Preston snapped up a Danish striker in Emil Riis back in October, but they wanted another one.
Back in March, Alex Neil admitted to the club’s official website that he was keen to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Kenneth Zohore.
West Brom splashed £8million to sign Zohore in July 2019, but he was seemingly available for loan last summer.
For whatever reason, Preston didn’t sign Zohore and ended up landing Riis instead, which we’d have to say was a positive move given Riis’s potential.
Zohore did though score against North End back in October as Millwall clinched a 2-0 victory at Deepdale.
Neil has gone, but if Zohore remains on the wish list at Preston then Gary Rowett’s verdict may be seen as something of a warning.
Speaking to News At Den earlier this week, Rowett suggested that it’s unlikely that he will look to bring Zohore back to South London this summer.
Rowett highlighted Zohore’s fitness and injury problems, and North End certainly can’t commit to paying big wages for a player who may not play regularly.
The 27-year-old only managed 10 starts and two goals this past season, and we wouldn’t expect him to be on Preston’s radar again this summer.
