Odense playmaker Mads Frøkjær-Jensen has been pulled out of their squad for talks with a foreign club amid Preston North End interest.
Odense take on Viborg in a pre-season friendly today as they ramp up their plans for the new Superliga season.
However, Odense have confirmed that Frøkjær-Jensen will not be involved at all.
It’s stated that Frøkjær-Jensen has been given ‘time off to visit a foreign club’ and discuss a potential transfer.
Odense’s official website states that Frøkjær-Jensen is now ‘close to changing clubs’ with a deal in the pipeline.
“Mads has been allowed to visit a club, as we are in negotiations about a transfer. If there is a change in our playing squad, it will be communicated via OB’s own channels when the agreements are signed,” said director of football Bjorn Wesstrom.
This will leave Preston North End fans feeling excited amid recent links with a deal for Frøkjær-Jensen.
Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet reported late in June that PNE had failed with an opening bid to sign Frøkjær-Jensen.
Odense wanted more money but the rumours have gone a little quiet since then with Frøkjær-Jensen featuring in an Odense friendly against Vejle.
An exit seems to be ramping up again though and whilst Odense haven’t confirmed that the club involved is PNE, rumours indicate it is indeed North End.
Ekstrabladet have offered an update, stating that Odense and PNE have reached an agreement over Frøkjær-Jensen after ‘many hours in the office’ negotiating.

It’s stated that a long-term contract has been agreed and Frøkjær-Jensen will be undergoing a medical with North End soon.
Frøkjær-Jensen is out of contract in 2024 and PNE will be hopeful of tempting Odense into selling before he leaves for nothing.
Odense-based newspaper Fyens add that the deal will be worth around DKK 10 million, which converts to around £1.15million.
The 23-year-old predominantly plays as a left-sided winger cutting in on his right foot, or as an attacking midfielder.
PNE may see Frokjaer-Jensen as a player who can feature in 3-4-2-1 and 3-5-2 setups under Ryan Lowe.
The Dane fits what PNE fans want to see – a talented young player with resale value if he develops at Deepdale.
Linking up with fellow Dane Emil Riis could be very exciting for PNE fans and hopefully this deal now goes though without a hitch.
