Report: Preston players will try to convince Gavin Bazunu to join North End this summer

Preston fancy Manchester City’s Gavin Bazunu this summer and now want his Ireland teammates Alan Browne and Seani Maguire to convince him to join.

That’s according to Alan Nixon and The Sun (15/05, p59), who claim that Bazunu is a prime target for Preston this summer.

Nixon adds that Preston are looking to sign three goalkeepers this summer.

Loan star Daniel Iversen has returned to Leicester City and a return now looks very unlikely.

Declan Rudd has retired whilst four goalkeepers – Connor Ripley, Mathew Hudson, Oliver Lombard and Declyn Duggan – have all been released.

18-year-old James Pradic is the only goalkeeper at the club right now and North End need to build the ranks up from scratch.

Preston may need a first-choice loanee, experienced backup and a developmental goalkeeper to give Ryan Lowe the competition he needs.

Preston fancy Manchester City’s Gavin Bazunu

It has been rumoured for a few weeks now that Preston want to sign Bazunu on loan from Manchester City.

It’s now suggested that Preston’s Irish internationals Alan Browne and Seani Maguire are being tasked with the job of recruiting Bazunu this summer.

North End seemingly want to use this summer’s internationals to get Bazunu on board by having Browne and Maguire convince him.

That’s a fine idea – you have to try and take every opportunity you can get – but convincing Bazunu won’t be an easy task.

The 20-year-old stopper excelled on loan at Portsmouth this season and is now ready for the next step.

That may be a Championship loan but reports in Ireland suggest that Bazunu wants a first-choice role in the Premier League.

Everton are interested in Bazunu with the youngster seemingly realising he won’t ever be first-choice stopper at City.

That makes a Preston loan seem hard to imagine, but maybe Browne and Maguire can work their magic on the young goalkeeper this summer.
