Preston have seemingly finished up their defensive recruitment for the summer, meaning there will be no move for Akin Odimayo after all.
North End have brought Liam Lindsay and Sepp van den Berg back after successful loan spells, whilst Matthew Olosunde has come in at right back.
Frankie McAvoy now seems to have his defensive options sorted ahead of the new season, and that means some other alleged targets will end up going elsewhere.

One such player is Akin Odimayo, who was linked with a move to Preston back in April with Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City also keen.
The former Reading defender had shown potential with Swindon last season, but Preston – if they were ever truly interested – decided not to make a move.
Football League World now report that Swindon have given Odimayo permission to train with League One side Portsmouth ahead of a potential move.

Fratton Park could be Odimayo’s new home if his trial spell goes well, with the 21-year-old seemingly having little interest in playing in the fourth tier with relegated Swindon.
Odimayo always seemed like a left-field target for Preston, and a move to Portsmouth would take him off North End’s radar for some time.
