Plymouth Argyle have appointed Steven Schumacher as their new boss following Ryan Lowe’s move to Preston North End – and Schumacher has now spoken up.

Preston sacked Frankie McAvoy on Monday night and wasted no time in finding his replacement.

Lowe decided to quit his job as Plymouth boss in order to make the move to Lancashire.

That move hasn’t gone down well at Home Park, with Plymouth fans far impressed with Lowe’s decision to go.

Lowe hasn’t come to Preston with his usual assistant Steven Schumacher, despite working together at Bury and Plymouth.

Instead, Schumacher has been appointed as Lowe’s replacement at Plymouth, taking his first managerial job.

Few can really blame Schumacher for taking that first managerial job over being an assistant again.

On Wednesday night, Plymouth played their first game since Lowe’s move to Preston.

Argyle claimed a 1-1 draw away at MK Dons, with Conor Grant cancelling out Tennai Watson’s opener.

That’s an impressive first result for Schumacher, and he has now spoken about Lowe’s exit.

Sky Sports reporter Emma Saunders has carried quotes from Schumacher in which he both thanks and credits new Preston boss Lowe.

Schumacher noted that it was difficult to break their partnership by not making the move to Preston, but predicted ‘great things’ for Lowe at Deepdale.
