Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur loanee Troy Parrott won’t be involved any time soon.
Parrott went down with an injury against Norwich City back in October, seemingly injuring himself whilst celebrating his winning goal.
The joy of finally bagging his first goal for PNE was immediately dulled by his injury.
The initial verdict was that Parrott would be out until after the World Cup break having undergone surgery.
PNE’s first game back against Blackburn Rovers was the target for Parrott but Lowe seemed a little reluctant to commit to that date before the World Cup break.
Lowe suggested that Parrott wouldn’t be rushed back, which is usually the sensible option, and that has proven to be the case.
Lowe has today stated that Parrott won’t be playing for PNE ‘any time soon’.
The North End boss stated that Parrott is at least progressing well and playing ‘small passes’ in training but isn’t at full tilt yet.
Lowe suggested that Parrott will be back playing for PNE in three or four weeks, meaning we have likely seen the last of Parrott as far as 2022 goes.
That’s a major blow for PNE, who would have been looking for Parrott to offer an additional goal threat in the derby against Blackburn and during the festive period.

Ched Evans has been back in the goals of late but Emil Riis is still looking to recapture last season’s outstanding form.
Having Parrott back ahead of the New Year would have been ideal but North End have to take the cautious option here.
Tottenham are ultimately the club that PNE must answer to over Parrott and any decision on his injury will be communicated fully with the Premier League club.
Tottenham won’t want Parrott to pick up recurring injuries; he’s their asset and PNE have to take all the necessary precautions with I’m before throwing him back into Championship action.
