Preston defender Jordan Storey has refused to rule out the possibility of a permanent move to join Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

North End decided to loan Storey out during the January window, receiving interest from a number of League One clubs.

In the end, Preston allowed Storey to join Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season, with Ryan Lowe keen for him to get games in the third tier.

Storey has seemingly impressed during his time at Hillsborough, even being branded ‘dominant’ having excelled in the Wednesday back line.

It’s unclear what the future truly holds for Storey.

His lack of game time under Lowe was largely because of Sepp van den Berg’s superb performances, but he is returning tot Liverpool this summer.

Bambo Diaby could play as a right-sided centre back next season, but many have expected that Storey will return to fight it out for a starting role.

After all, Storey did only sign a new contact with Preston back in September, suggesting that he has a long-term future with North End.

Still, with Ryan Lowe set for something of a squad overhaul this summer, can we really rule out anybody leaving?

With Wednesday fans loving Storey, the defender has been asked about possibly joining the club on a permanent basis.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Storey suggested that you can ‘never say never’ and there is no reason why a permanent move can’t happen.

Preston would likely at least expect their money back having paid £750,000 to sign Storey from Exeter City in 2018.

Whether Wednesday can afford that remains to be seen, especially if Darren Moore’s men don’t win promotion back to the Championship.
