It’s been a long time coming, but fans are finally edging nearer to a return to Deepdale.
Not since the 7th March 2020 have fans been able to watch North End at home in person, with that game a disappointing one to finish on as well; a 3-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers.
Preston will welcome Manchester United to Deepdale a week on Saturday with tickets already on sale for that one.
But they have today announced details for the opening league game against Hull City on Saturday 7th August. Fans have eagerly anticipated this one ever since the fixtures were announced and it looked as if there would be minimal restrictions in place.
The club have decided to keep the prices for match by match tickets the same as the 2019/20 season, and will be on sale from midday. It will be a strange feeling for many returning to Deepdale after so long, and for most it will be the first chance to watch live sport since the pandemic affected all live events.
It will provide the first occasion to see many Preston players in a competitive fixture for the first time. Ben Whiteman, Sepp van den Berg, Liam Lindsay, Emil Riis, and Ched Evans are just some of the players who have yet to play in front of the North End faithful.
Hull City will provide the opposition on the day having secured an immediate return to the Championship under Grant McCann. Randell Williams and Andrew Cannon are two of their additions this summer, both who have been linked to Preston in the past.
