Rumours linking Dominic Iorfa with a move to Preston North End have been completely played down by all sides.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported on Sunday that PNE were hoping to do a deal for Sheffield Wednesday defender Iorfa.
It was suggested that Wednesday were looking to wheel and deal with Iorfa potentially available.
Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb are thought to be keen on Iorfa and links to PNE seemed a little surprising.
North End currently have six centre backs vying for three spots with Jordan Storey, Bambo Diaby, Liam Lindsay, Patrick Bauer, Greg Cunningham and Andrew Hughes fighting for playing time.
Adding another to the mix with no news on a defensive outgoing seems unlikely, even if somebody with Iorfa’s pace would have been welcome.
Any PNE move for Iorfa has now been denied anyway with North End boss Ryan Lowe telling Tom Sandells that there is nothing in the Iorfa link.
Wednesday boss Xisco Munoz has also played down the speculation whilst speaking to Yorkshire Live.
Munoz claims that Iorfa is an ‘important’ player at Hillsborough and he will definitely be staying in South Yorkshire.

Munoz feels that Iorfa is a ‘very good’ player and that Wednesday have no plans to sell anybody, much less Iorfa.
“No, Dominic is important,” said Munoz. “One hundred per cent. He is our player and is very good for us. Right now we’re keeping all our players,” he added when pressed if Iorfa would be staying.
We suggested at the time that Iorfa to PNE would have been a surprise and it looks like there are no plans for him to make the move.
Adding some more athleticism at the back should still be on the wish list though, just in case there is a departure before the end of August.
A striker and a left wing back appear to be the priorities for PNE right now though and Iorfa is just one of a number of rumours this summer that can essentially be thrown in the bin.
