PNE’s record signing needs time to shine as Ryan Lowe comments hint an opportunity is coming

Patience is difficult to come by – especially in football.

As much as people want to be entertained, it’s a results business and fans demand bang for their buck.

Ryan Lowe would probably wish that PNE fans had a little more patience at times.

Lowe seems to come under huge pressure on a fairly regular basis and he always seems to be one result away from fans turning on him again.

That’s football, for better or for worse, and North End fans may need to show a little bit of patience over striker Milutin Osmajic too.

Milutin Osmajic will get his chance

PNE broke the club’s transfer record on deadline day in September, splashing around £2.15million on signing Osmaijc from Spanish side Cadiz.

The Montenegro international was a relative unknown but had scored eight goals on loan at Portuguese side Vizela last season.

Osmajic’s arrival sparked major excitement and his start to life at North End was pretty decent.

Four goals and two assists in his first 13 appearances was an encouraging start, but an injury against Middlesbrough kept him out for three games.

That blunted Osmajic’s momentum and he now hasn’t scored in 11 Championship games since returning.

Osmajic isn’t starting regularly; since being taken off at half-time against Bristol City in January, Osmajic hasn’t started once and has managed just over 70 minutes across five substitute appearances.

The 24-year-old has been coming off the bench but hasn’t really looked at his best, almost lacking a bit of confidence.

It’s tough for Osmajic to get in the side right now as Will Keane and Emil Riis are both in good form, but a chance is coming.

Riis is only just back from a lengthy injury lay-off and will be taken out of the side for a rest soon – that’s what Lowe told BBC Radio Lancashire over the weekend.

Ched Evans is out right now and Layton Stewart has yet to start a Championship game, so Osmajic would surely be in line to start.

That would be a big opportunity for Osmajic, who has shown moments of quality in a North End shirt but needs to recapture his best form.

This is Osmajic’s first season in English football and it’s certainly an adjustment period for many imports; Riis would be the first to tell him that.

Osmajic needs time and opportunities to show his best again; hopefully we see him back in the goals again soon, as North End do need to see returns from the record signing.
