Preston are searching for a left wing back this month, but seemingly won’t be bringing in Cambridge United star Jack Iredale.
Josh Earl is currently featuring as Ryan Lowe’s left wing back in a 3-5-2, but his form has been up and down this season.
Andrew Hughes and Greg Cunningham are seen as left-sided centre backs in Lowe’s system, meaning Preston are short of left wing backs.
It’s a priority for Preston to add another option this month, but Iredale seemingly won’t be heading to Deepdale.
The Cambridge United star was the source of social media chatter last week, but Alan Nixon poured cold water on the rumours.
Lancs Live have added that Iredale has been put forward to Preston, but North End are looking elsewhere as things stand.
Iredale, 25, thrived with Greenock Morton and Carlisle United before heading to Cambridge in 2020.
Iredale now has five goals and five assists in 77 games for Cambridge, thriving going forward whilst being branded the ‘best left-back in League One’.

The Australian is a physical specimen at 6ft 3in, and has even been filling in at centre back for Mark Bonner’s side this season.
What’s interesting is that Preston backing away from Iredale may just open up something of a merry-go-round with Wigan Athletic.
Nixon claims that Preston fancy signing Wigan left back Tom Pearce, and the Latics would target Iredale as his replacement.
With Pearce out of contract this summer, that potential situation could make sense for all parties.
