Preston are widely expected to wrap up the signing of Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen in the coming weeks, but there could yet be a sting in the tail.
North End took Iversen on loan from Leicester in January, and the Dane became an instant fan favourite with some superb performances.
Declan Rudd may be back from injury, but Preston still want Iversen back, and boss Frankie McAvoy admitted recently that North End are in a ‘good position’ to get a deal done.

Preston have been forced to wait because Leicester’s main goalkeepers – Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Ward – both played at Euro 2020 and both made the knockout stages.
Euro 2020 is over, so Iversen will hopefully head to Preston soon, but Wolverhampton Wanderers could cause problems.
Wolves have just sold Rui Patricio to Roma, and the Daily Mail reported last month that they would like to sign Leicester stopper Ward.
Wolves even appointed Ward’s goalkeeping coach with Wales, strengthening the idea that the former Liverpool man could head to Molineux.

Olympiacos stopper Jose Sa currently looks most likely to replace Patricio, but the situation with Ward is one to keep an eye on from Preston’s perspective.
He played so well for Wales at Euro 2020 that, even though he recently signed a new deal at Leicester, there will surely be a number of clubs keen to sign him as their first choice.
If that happens, Iversen would then be needed as cover for his compatriot Schmeichel, potentially leaving Preston hanging… let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, and that Iversen is back with North End sooner rather than later.
