Preston appointed new manager Ryan Lowe on Tuesday afternoon, and he immediately made a first move by adding Mike Marsh to his coaching staff.
North End moved quickly to appoint Lowe having sacked Frankie McAvoy on Monday.
Lowe has arrived from Plymouth Argyle, with Preston paying around £250,000 in compensation.
Lowe’s first move was to bring in Marsh. Preston announced him a first-team coach, though Lowe called him an assistant manager.
We profiled Marsh on Tuesday, covering his path from Preston Under-14 coach to Lowe’s right-hand man via Liverpool, Huddersfield and Swansea City.
During Marsh’s time at Swansea, he was very close with boss Steve Cooper having worked together at Liverpool and with the England Under-17’s.
In Cooper’s first season in charge, he claimed a vital 1-0 win over bitter rivals Cardiff City.
The only goal of the game came from a beautifully-worked corner. Three players congregated for a short corner before the cross game in for Ben Wilmot to score.
Many would credit Cooper, but he actually admitted that Marsh came up with the routine.
Cooper also admitted that Marsh has a ‘brilliant eye’ for scoring from set pieces.
That’s something for Preston fans to get excited about, with Marsh potentially able to conjure up some creative and innovative set pieces at Deepdale.
